Kensana Health REST Trial

What is the REST Trial?

The REST (Results of Endocannabinoid System Treatment) Trial is a project conducted by the Research & Development team of Kensana Health, in collaboration with the clinic team at eCS Clinic. The aim of this study is to assess the results of eCS Clinic patients who have been prescribed cannabinoid medication to treat their symptoms for a wide range of medical conditions. Cannabinoids are the active ingredients found in the cannabis plant. This data will be de-identified (removing any information that might link the data with a person) and then used internally to inform our treatment products and protocols for future patients.

What will I be required to do?

Participation in the trial involves just being an engaged patient at eCS Clinic. As part of your normal treatment through eCS Clinic, your Patient Advocate will contact you at regular intervals as you find the dose that works for you. Your Patient Advocate will also ask questions related to the outcome of your treatment. These questions are used by your eCS Practitioner to ensure the medication is appropriate for you and inform any prescription changes that may be needed to optimise your results. These calls (or emails if you were unavailable for a call) will also allow you to ask questions about your cannabinoid treatment.

For those participating in the REST Trial, the answers to your questions will be de-identified and collated with the results of other patients who have similar conditions.

The process above is the same for those who chose to not participate in the REST trial, with the exception of the inclusion of their de-identified data within the trial. The eCS Clinic team will still ask non-participating patients the same questions on outcomes as this information is important to their treatment.

What will happen to my data?

We will only have access to your data after it has been de-identified, meaning that any identifying information, such as your name and date of birth, will already have been removed. It will then be added to the pool of data collected from all the participants in the trial for analysis. The information we gain from analysing the pooled data will be used to help inform our current methods for treating different conditions with cannabinoid medication. It may also help in the development of new products. The data we collect from you will only be used internally and will not be published publicly.

What’s in it for me?

Participants in the REST Trial will receive free consultations from eCS Clinic, waiving the current fee of $150 for each consultation. Participants will still need to pay for their medications as per normal. It is important to note that there is no obligation to participate in the REST Trial and the treatment received by all patients will be the same, regardless of whether they participate or not. Patients are welcome to withdraw from the trial at any time, however, if they do, they will need to pay for any consultations required after this time.
